Pick A Number

Janet Hall was one of the founding members of LIP and she left some of her camera equipment to the organisation when she died recently. If you are interested in a 5×4 Sinar, lenses or a pair of studio flash heads, here is the link to the ebay auction (NB: now finished) which I am running on behalf of LIP. (link is to the camera, follow the link to my other auctions for more).
Not a Series

I went to see the Jeff Wall show again and noticed a couple of new oddities which could have been discussed for hours had I not been there with real people. However, afterwards one of the real people was kind enough to buy me a copy of the book below which, despite my having enough books at the moment, seemed relevant to my current thinking. Later in the pub, her generosity was heightened by the fact that she had her purse emptied by a pickpocket.

I’m testing Ecto (more info). If blogging is easier I might do it more often.
London Open House
September 18, 2004
For the previous two years on London Open House weekend I’ve intended to visit the William Booth College but never quite managed it. Mainly I wanted to try the view from the tower but because the site covers a large area and is surrounded by high walls it also has an air of mystery.
On the way I noticed another building that was in the Open House scheme. I hadn’t seen it on the LOH web site because it’s described as ‘Stealth House’. This picture was taken inside (more information on the architect’s site - click on What’s New and Grove Lane). For a view I shot from the William Booth College tower, click here. Apart from the view it was all very austere and not at all mysterious.
“Architecture cannot escape fashion”
May 25, 2003
I’m reading The Look of Architecture which makes connections between architecture and clothing that had never occurred to me before. It’s also a bit negative about the failure of photography to capture important aspects of architecture which makes me wonder what the author would think of Tadao Ando: The Colours of Light which also seems to be at the top of my pile at the moment and has some great photographs by Richard Pare.
