Wait in the Magazine

Wait in the MagazineThis is one of two of my Wait pictures which were published in the latest LIP magazine. You can find it on sale at the Photographers’ Gallery and a handful of other places in London (see list on first link). It’s hard to be too excited about this because aside from the fact that the two chosen pictures don’t make a lot of sense on their own, they edited my text, without any discussion, including adding a line of observation at the end (“I do see them as still figures surrounded by bustling street life”) which I didn’t even make. Sigh. You can see more pictures from this series here along with my original text (which doubtless would benefit from editing but by someone else).

The recent Street Photography Workshop generated this gallery of pictures from the participants. [Pic]

hmmm, well it’s not the first time this sort of editing has taken place in the mag. Hopefully you discussed it with the editor if, as it appears, you were uncomfortable with the ‘liberties’ taken with your text…?

Anyway, your blog looks excellent :)

I don’t mean to sound whiney. I tend to think there’s always going to be some imperfections. I do think they should improve the communication prior to publishing but I can also see that’s a boatload of extra work for them. Since they’re volunteers I don’t want to be overly critical and it’s better if issues are tackled because of responses from many contributors rather than one.

Your new site is looking good too!

Do you have something to add?
